Picea orientalis 'Gowdy' is commonly known as Gowdy Oriental Spruce. It is a slow-growing evergreen conifer that features short, glossy dark green needles on a narrow columnar habit. It can grow to be 8-10 feet tall with a spread of 6 feet.
Seed bearing bright purple cones mature to brown.
Gowdy Oriental Spruce thrives in full sun in nutrient-rich, evenly moist, well-drained soils. It can be drought tolerant once established.
